BANISTER ART STUDIO
Dumpton Bay, Broadstairs
‘Beetling cliffs by the surging main.’ Standing beneath the chalk at Dumpton Bay, I was struck by how resolutely these bastions defy time, weather and tide. I built up the cliff face slowly in dense, layered hatching to give it the weight it has in person, then let the line loosen and quicken as the foreshore runs out to the sea.
