Banister Art Studio at The Horsebridge 30/40 Summer Open

17–26 July 2026

Banister Art Studio is pleased to be taking part in The Horsebridge 30/40 Summer Open, a large-scale exhibition celebrating contemporary creative practice from artists across the region and beyond.

Hosted by The Horsebridge Arts Centre in Whitstable, the exhibition brings together over 100 artworks, each created within a shared 30cm x 40cm format. The result is a diverse and engaging collection that reflects a wide range of artistic approaches, subjects and interpretations.

For this exhibition, I will present two original artworks inspired by the colours, light and atmosphere of Whitstable Harbour. Developed through observation and reflection, the pieces respond to the harbour's distinctive sense of place, drawing on shifting tonal relationships, tidal rhythms and the quiet character of a landscape shaped by both natural and built elements.

Rooted in memories of place rather than direct representation, the works explore the space between structure and atmosphere, harbour and horizon, land and sky. Through layered colour, restraint and compositional balance, they offer a contemporary interpretation of the experience of Whitstable's working waterfront.

Banister Art Studio at Benenden Art Fair

Banister Art Studio is pleased to be exhibiting at Benenden Art Fair, an artist-led event that celebrates the breadth of creative talent across Kent and Sussex.

Held in the historic village of Benenden in the heart of the Weald of Kent, the fair brings together painters, printmakers, sculptors, ceramicists, jewellers and makers working across a wide range of disciplines. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to showcasing both established and emerging artists, the event offers visitors the opportunity to discover exceptional creativity on their doorstep.

For this year's fair, I will be exhibiting a curated selection of contemporary fine art prints inspired by the landscapes of Kent. Developed from original painted compositions, the work draws on sustained observation of the county's coast, countryside and built environments, exploring the relationship between light, atmosphere and structure.

Alongside the opportunity to view the work in person, visitors will be able to learn more about the inspiration, process and locations that continue to shape Banister Art Studio's evolving body of work.

Exhibition at The Horsebridge Art Centre, Whitstable
8 April – 20 April 2026

In April 2026, I’ll be exhibiting a body of landscape prints at The Horsebridge Art Centre in Whitstable, Kent.

This exhibition brings together work shaped by time spent across the coast and countryside of Kent where light, weather and structure quietly interact.

The prints explore that balance between atmosphere and form, drawing on observation, movement and a long-standing interest in how places are experienced over time.

If you’re local to Whitstable, or visiting the North Kent coast this spring, I’d be delighted for you to see the work in person.

The Work

This new series continues my ongoing exploration of:

  • Coastal light and shifting weather

  • Structural elements within landscape

  • Line, tone and surface texture

  • Space, clarity and restraint

Each print begins with close observation and develops through a process of refinement in the studio. Heavier lines are used to establish structure, while controlled layers of paint build depth and atmosphere.

Several works have been created specifically for this exhibition at The Horsebridge.

Visiting the Exhibition

This exhibition presents a curated selection of fine art prints.

While the work can be viewed online, seeing the prints in person offers a different experience. Scale, surface texture and tonal depth become clearer, and the quality of the print process from pigment density to paper finish can be properly appreciated.

The Horsebridge Art Centre, situated in the centre of Whitstable near the harbour and seafront, provides an established setting for contemporary art in North Kent. For those searching for art exhibitions in Whitstable, a Kent landscape artist, or coastal prints available to acquire on the day, this exhibition presents a focused collection developed specifically for this setting.

All works will be available during the exhibition and are available to purchase through my website as well as Etsy UK. Enquiries are welcome in advance of the show.
